Potential 2024 Presidential Hopeful Liz Cheney Takes Another L

The January 6th Select Committee has decided not to make a criminal referral to the Department of Justice for former President Donald Trump. Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney is reportedly furious over the decision.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss), the chairman of the committee, was asked by a reporter if the committee would be sending criminal referrals for Trump and others, to which he replied:

“No, you know, we’re going to tell the facts. If the Department of Justice looks at it and assumes that there’s something that needs further review, I’m sure they’ll do it,”

When pressed further, he explained:

“No, that’s not our job. Our job is to look at the facts and circumstances around January 6, what caused it, and make recommendations after that.”

Needless to say, this is not what Cheney and her fellow committee members wanted to hear. In a statement of her own, Cheney said:

“The January 6th Select Committee has not issued a conclusion regarding potential criminal referrals. We will announce a decision on that at an appropriate time,”

A spokesperson for the committee spoke to CNN, saying: 

“the Select Committee has no authority to prosecute individuals, but is rather tasked with developing the facts surrounding the January 6th riot at the Capitol. Right now, the committee is focused on presenting our findings to the American people in our hearings and in our report. Our investigation is ongoing and we will continue to gather all relevant information as we present facts, offer recommendations and, if warranted, make criminal referrals.”

As we reported previously, this comes as the testimony of Cheney’s star witness has come under heavy criticism. The witness was a former aide to ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows named Cassidy Hutchinson.

In the immediate wake of Hutchinson’s testimony, many of her claims were refuted by people directly involved in the events that she claimed happened. You can see a list of the refuted claims HERE. Much of the testimony has been called “second-hand information and hearsay”.

Her most notable claim was that Donald Trump grabbed the steering wheel of the presidential limo after being told that he could not go to the Capitol on January 6, 2020, as well as grabbing for the throat of Secret Service agent Bobby Engel. Within hours of her testimony, Engel said that the incident she spoke of never happened.

A third official, former Trump White House lawyer Eric Herschmann, disputed Hutchinson’s claim that she wrote a note for Trump to read on January 6. Herschmann claims the note was written by him, not Hutchinson.

A spokesperson for Herschmann said:

“The handwritten note that Cassidy Hutchinson testified was written by her was in fact written by Eric Herschmann on January 6, 2021… All sources with direct knowledge and law enforcement have and will confirm that it was written by Mr. Herschmann.”

Cheney has chosen to stand by Hutchinson despite almost all of her allegations being rebuked and disputed. Consequently,  a poll found that Cheney’s down a whopping 30 points to Hageman.

Despite the string of bad news, and that she appears likely to lose her seat in Wyoming, Cheney has teased the possibility of Presidential run in 2024, saying: 

“At this point, I haven’t made a decision on 2024 …. I’ll make a decision on 2024 down the road… But I do think as we look towards the next presidential election, as I said, you know, I believe that our nation stands on the edge of an abyss and I do believe that we all have to really think very seriously about the dangers we face and the threats we face and we have to elect serious candidates,”

AZ Primary: Results Haven’t Been Updated Since 7AM, Irregularities Abound

Kari Lake, the Trump-endorsed firebrand, took the lead against Pence-endorsed Karrin Taylor Robson in the Republican primary for Arizona Governor early this morning. The election seemed like a done deal, but AZ Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has not updated the election results since 7 AM.

Kari Lake leads in nearly every poll by ten points or more.

It is worth mentioning that Robson outperformed by almost 20 points. In addition to that surprise, multiple voter irregularities have been reported, including 63,000 incorrect ballots sent out by Arizona election officials.

When the polls opened yesterday morning, it was reported that the printers weren’t working, some voters were handed slips of paper with phone numbers they could call and were directed to vote elsewhere if they wanted their votes counted. 

Arizona GOP Chairwoman Dr. Kelli Ward tweeted about concerns at Desert Hills Community Church in North Phoenix,

Despite what some pundits are calling “A massive fix”, Lake eventually pulled ahead. At 12:33 am, Kari walked onto the stage to declare this historic victory over the Establishment Republicans, saying, “We are going to win the nominee for Republican Governor.”

We can’t say for certain one way or another what exactly is happening right now in Arizona, only that it looks a little suspicious. Maricopa County said they may release their vote counts at 7 PM tonight.

Chinese Carrier and Tank Movement Cause #WWIII to Trend as Nancy Pelosi Lands in Taiwan Despite Threat of “Serious Consequences”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, despite China’s repeated warnings, landed in Taiwan early this morning. The curious stunt has caused China to flex its might by moving aircraft carriers into the South China Sea as well as positioning tanks on Chinese beaches opposite Taiwan.

Pelosi arrived after reports flooded Chinese social media Tuesday that Beijing has positioned tanks on the beaches of Fujian along the Taiwan Strait.

In addition, reports and footage have surfaced of large military movements of troops and equipment. Movements have been seen occurring on major highways and railways throughout the Chinese province of Fujian, directly adjacent to the islands of Quemoy and Matsu.

Many commercial flights slated to depart from several cities in the Fujian province have been abruptly canceled in the last 24 hours. Xiamen Airlines put out a statement that the flight cancelations were due to “regional traffic control” and did not elaborate further.

Some claim that this could be considered an invasion warning, the military occupation of the Quemoy and Matsu Islands as the first step by Communist China to subjugate Taiwan and eliminate U.S. influence in the Western Pacific.

The speaker landed despite these escalations in a move that’s been seen as brave by some and foolish by others. 

The country of Taiwan itself seems to have mixed feelings about the visit. Civic groups, politicians, and business and industry representatives on the island of Taiwan began protesting against US Pelosi’s potential visit. 

Wu Cherng-dean, chairman of the pro-reunification New Party, said on Tuesday that the party is firmly opposed to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, saying that Pelosi is “harmful to Taiwan without bringing any benefits.”

A number of Taiwan civic groups gathered in front of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) as early as Monday afternoon, with hundreds of people holding placards with slogans such as “American witch get out of Taiwan, China,” and “get out, trouble maker Nancy Pelosi!”.

The rest of the world chimed in as well, as Twitter saw #WWIII trend as Pelosi arrived. This is likely due to the multiple threats related to the trip.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said during a daily press briefing prior to her arrival”

“We would like to tell the United States once again that China is standing by, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will never sit idly by, and China will take resolute responses and strong countermeasures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,”

Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesperson Senior Colonel Tan Kefei said:

“As the ‘third most important figure’ of the U.S. government, if Speaker Pelosi visits Taiwan, the move will seriously violate the one-China principle and the provisions in the three China-U.S. joint communiques, severely endanger China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity… It will have a critically negative impact on the political foundation of China-U.S. relations, and is bound to cause extremely serious harm to the relations between the two countries and their militaries, and lead to further escalation of tension across the Taiwan Straits.”

Pelosi is also experiencing some criticism back home as well:

Former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein tweeted, “It’s another Cuban missile crisis moment. Will Pelosi blunder us into WWIII with China?”

GOP Threatens to Stop Paying Donald Trump’s Legal Fees if he Announces He’s Running in 2024

The Republican establishment is putting up a fight against Donald Trump in a last-ditch effort to maintain control of the party. The GOP leadership has decided that they will no longer pay for the former President’s legal fees if he announces that he’s running in 2024.

Despite the fact that Donald Trump is likely the main reason they have any money at all, the current GOP leadership has decided to lord over Trump rather than help him.

The Daily Mail reports:

Republicans will stop paying Donald Trump‘s legal expenses if he announces he’s running for president in 2024, according to a new report published on Thursday.

The Republican National Committee has shelled out millions of dollars to law firms representing the former president amid government investigations and probes of his business interests.

But officials also worry that Trump could hurt the party’s midterms prospects if he announces a presidential run before this year’s elections.

An RNC official told ABC News that Trump would lose financial support as soon as launch a campaign because of the party’s ‘neutrality policy’ that bars it from taking sides in primaries.

RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel spelled out the stance in an interview in January.

‘The party has to stay neutral,’ she said. ‘I’m not telling anybody to run or not to run in 2024.’

There has been a serious bifurcation in the Republican party since the advent of Donald Trump and others like him. His presidency lead to what’s being colloquially referred to as “America First” politicians, who claim to be decidedly separate from their “Rino” counterparts.

There’s a growing school of thought that has always existed but has become much more prevalent in recent years, that believes career Democrats and Republicans have been two sides of the same corrupt coin, trading power back and forth but always benefiting an international ruling class.

The popularity of Donald Trump and those like him seem to be largely due to his willingness to call out the international corporatocracy and the perceived criminals who’ve maintained a stranglehold on local and national politics for the last century.

Trump created a movement that has only gained steam since the 2020 election. America First candidates defy the implied political mandates and unspoken decorum of Washington DC’s uniparty, and the GOP leadership can’t stand it. That is why they are making this last attempt to dissuade a man who seems to already have his mind made up.

Twitter Says Federal Demand for Information on Journalists and News Outlets has Increased

Twitter recently stated in a blog post that there has been a massive increase in governmental legal demands for information on news outlets and their respective journalists.

According to Twitter, governments the world over have made upward of 47,000 demands on nearly 199,000 separate accounts, with the US making up roughly 20% of all global requests. The land of the free has made more requests than the most totalitarian governments in the world.

“We continue to see a concerning trend toward attempts to limit global press freedom, with an increase in government legal demands targeting journalists, as well as an overall increased number of legal demands on accounts – both represent record highs since reporting began,” Twitter wrote.

The numbers presented in the report show a 103% increase in legal demands of governments targeting journalists from last period, the most demands they’ve seen in ten years.

Twitter says they’ve “narrowed (meaning we disclosed some information but not all information demanded in the request) or did not disclose any information in response to 60% of global government information requests.”

However, when responding to the US government, the company says that they complied, in whole or in part, with 69 percent of the information requests.

In an effort to provide transparency about data and information regarding government requests, the company noted that they upload legal requests directly into the Lumen Database, a project by the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

“We encourage the public to explore this site to get a sense of the day-to-day queries we receive from governments and other entities around the world,” Twitter wrote.

These admissions make no mention of partisanship, though Twitter has long worked with the American left to silence conservative voices.
