Last night a California man was arrested near the Maryland home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh., the Supreme Court issued a statement confirming the incident not long after the story broke.
Karol Markowicz, a columnist for the New York Post, posted to Twitter:
I can confirm the man taken into custody outside of Brett Kavanaugh's house last night is a 26 year old white male with a California driver's license. Previous address in Seattle.

UPDATE: NBC News reports the man had a gun, knife, and pepper spray–and took a taxi to Kavanaugh’s neighborhood, “Multiple law enforcement officials say that a man was arrested overnight near the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, per @PeteWilliamsNBC. The man reportedly had a gun, a knife, and pepper spray and told authorities he was there to kill Kavanaugh.”

“At approximately 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s residence. The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh. He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District.”

More: CBS News reports a 911 call came in around 1:15 a.m. of a suspicious man near Kavanaugh’s home, “Police got a 911 call at 1:15am about a suspicious man near the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh in Maryland. Per local police, the man is from California and was taken into custody. Into the local police station. But this is now an FBI investigation.”
