Blue Checkmarks Make Ghoulish Tweets, Revel in Queen’s Death

By Ryan Delarme, September 9, 2022

Yesterday, we reported that Queen Elizabeth II passed away after a 72-year reign, and while some believe the Monarchy to be largely vestigial at this point, many people around the world are mourning her death.

Critics of the monarchy the world over – including those who have been engaged in armed struggles against the United Kingdom – have been able to exhibit social grace and express their condolences to those who are mourning. In contrast, it didn’t take long for the armchair commentators of the Twittersphere to make light of the Queen’s death.

Before the death announcement was even made, several tweets were made by blue checkmarks relishing the idea that the Queen could potentially die. University professor Uju Anya wished the Queen an “agonizingly painful death like the one she caused for millions of people”.

Once the Queen’s death was actually announced, the sentiment only worsened.

Author’s Opinion: The Monarchy has many critics, and we here at Vigilant News are not exactly the biggest fans of the British royal family, but death is an opportunity to alieviate our grievances and let go of toxic emotions associated with the deceased. Holding onto that vitriol will only hurt you and those around you, not to mention your political party’s image problem.

Queen Elizabeth II Passes Away Shortly After Being Put Under “Medical Supervision”

By Ryan Delarme, September 8, 2022

Buckingham Palace released a statement Thursday morning, saying after “further evaluation” the doctors for Queen Elizabeth II are “concerned for Her Majesty’s health.”

The statement read:

“Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision… The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”

The Queen, who is 96 years old, postponed her Privy Council meeting after being advised by doctors to rest.

It was reported earlier in the week that the Queen had a meeting with Liz Truss, after which she appointed Truss to form a new administration as the new leader of the Conservative Party. She met with outgoing PM Boris Johnson, who offered his resignation earlier on Tuesday, thereby ending his time in office.

The meeting between the Queen, Truss, and Johnson would’ve occurred in Buckingham Palace, but the ceremony was held in Balmoral Castle in Scotland due to the monarch’s “mobility issues”.

“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime,” Truss tweeted Thursday.

My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.

Reports indicate the Queen’s family has traveled to Balmoral.

Daily Mirror says a Royal helicopter landed on the grounds of Balmoral.

“It comes as members of the Royal Family are racing to see the Queen after the palace made a rare announcement about her health,” the British newspaper said.

Naturally, the Twittersphere was all abuzz with various sentiments regarding the Queen’s supposed imminent demise.

One user opined that the Queen’s situation is comparable to 9/11 for the UK.

Others decided to make light of the situation.

This story is developing, we will update this report as more details emerge.

UPDATE: Queen Elizabeth II passed away “peacefully” on Thursday afternoon at 96, surrounded by family at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

Elizabeth’s 73-year-old eldest son, Charles, Prince of Wales, is heir to the throne. His wife, Camilla, will be Queen Consort.

REPORT: Climate Change Push to Replace Fossil Fuels a “Dangerous Delusion,” Mark Mills Dismantles Green Narrative

By Justin Deschamps, September 6, 2022

In a likely attempt to pander to the more reasonably minded—those who rightly question climate alarmism—the Wall Street Journal released an opinion piece detailing a report by Mark Mills of the Manhattan Institute, wherein Mills essentially debunks the claim that fossil fuels can be replaced with green energy alternatives, such as solar and wind energy.

Mills opens with,

Civilization still depends on hydrocarbons for 84% of all energy, a mere two percentage points lower than two decades ago. Solar and wind technologies today supply barely 5% of global energy. Electric vehicles still offset less than 0.5% of world oil demand.

The report can be read in full here.

The Wall Street Journal is historically pro-climate change, pro-green new deal, and pro-ESG, although they also express criticism on this subjects from time to time. This criticism appears to be a token gesture in an effort to maintain credibility with their audience.

Skepticism surrounding the climate change narrative has only grown in recent years, even as pro-climate change coverage has exploded in recent years.

A poll from 2021 found that only “43% of Americans nationally believe that climate change will harm them personally.”

“An “energy transition” away from society’s dependence on hydrocarbons is not feasible in any meaningful time frame,” Mills writes in the report. He continues, “it is a dangerous delusion to base policies on the idea that such a transition is possible.’

Mills concludes in his report that “Data, not aspirations, show just how critical hydrocarbons are and, in the wake of the Ukraine invasion, the consequences of failing to realize what reality permits. A different understanding of “transition” is required, one that recognizes that new energy sources should be considered additives, not outright replacements, for oil, natural gas, and coal.”

Climate alarmists and activists often cite the lack of acceptance for sweeping change to climate denialism, but as Mills argues “the realities of the physics, engineering, and economics of energy systems are not dependent on any facts or beliefs about climate change.”

Mills layous out why energy demands have, and will likely continue to increase, as technology advances. (Ephasis added by Vigilant News)

One can begin with a reality that cannot be blinked away: energy is needed for everything that is fabricated, grown, operated, or moved… digital devices and hardware—the most complex products ever produced at scale—require, on average, about 1,000 times more energy to fabricate, pound for pound, than the products that dominated the 20th century… it takes nearly as much energy to make one smartphone as it does one refrigerator, even though the latter weighs 1,000 times more. The world produces nearly 10 times more smartphones a year than refrigerators. Thus, the global fabrication of smartphones now uses 15% as much energy as does the entire automotive industry, even though a car weighs 10,000 times more than a smartphone. The global Cloud, society’s newest and biggest infrastructure, uses twice as much electricity as the entire nation of Japan. And then, of course, there are all the other common, vital needs for energy, from heating and cooling homes to producing food and delivering freight.

Advocates of a carbon-free world underestimate not only how much energy the world already uses, but how much more energy the world will yet demand… In America, there are nearly as many vehicles as people, while in most of the world, fewer than 1 in 20 people have a car. More than 80% of the world population has yet to take a single flight.

Climate activists often demand change, without considering the practical impact on society. But Mills rightly points out that wind and solar can’t compare to the energy output of fossil fuels.

Claims that wind, solar, and [electrical vehicles] have reached cost parity with traditional energy sources or modes of transportation are not based on evidence. Even before the latest period of rising energy prices, Germany and Britain—both further down the grid transition path than the U.S.— have seen average electricity rates rise 60%–110% over the past two decades. The same pattern is visible in Australia and Canada. It’s also apparent in U.S. states and regions where mandates have resulted in grids with a higher share of wind/solar energy. In general, overall U.S. residential electricity costs rose over the past 20 years. But those rates should have declined because of the collapse in the cost of natural gas and coal—the two energy sources that, together, supplied nearly 70% of electricity in that period. Instead, rates have been pushed higher thanks to elevated spending on the otherwise unneeded infrastructure required to transmit wind/solar-generated electricity, as well as the increased costs to keep lights on during “droughts” of wind and sun that come from also keeping conventional power plants available (like having an extra, fully fueled car parked and ready to go) in effect by spending on two grids.

None of the above accounts for the costs hidden as taxpayer-funded subsidies that were intended to make alternative energy cheaper. Added up over the past two decades, the cumulative subsidies across the world for biofuels, wind, and solar approach about $5 trillion, all of that to supply roughly 5% of global energy.

Whether it’s to cool a home, heat steel, or power a data center, the eternal engineering challenge has always been to find the lowest-cost way to make energy available when it’s needed to meet inherently variable demands, especially in the face of inevitable challenges from nature’s attacks as well as supply chain and machine failures. Oil, natural gas, coal, and even wood and water are easy to store in very large volumes at very low cost, but not so electricity. Hence, grid-scale electric availability has been made possible by using electricity-producing machines (turbines) that can be turned on when needed, fueled by large quantities of primary energy sources (such as natural gas, coal, and flowing water) that are easily and inexpensively stored. Such metrics characterize, for now, more than 80% of U.S. electricity production and more than 90% of transportation. The U.S., on average, has about one to two months’ worth of national demand in storage for each kind of hydrocarbon. Such enormous quantities are possible because it costs less than $1 a barrel per month to store oil or the energy equivalent of natural gas. Storing coal is even cheaper. Thus, over the past century, engineers achieved the feat of building a nation-spanning group of electricity grids that powers nearly everything, anytime, while still consuming less than 3% of the GDP.

Storing electricity itself—the output from solar/wind machines—remains extremely expensive despite the vaunted battery revolution. Lithium batteries, a Nobel-winning invention, are some 400% better than lead-acid batteries in terms of energy stored per unit of weight (which is critical for vehicles). And the costs for lithium batteries have declined more than 10-fold in the past two decades. Even so, it costs at least $30 to store the energy equivalent of one barrel of oil using lithium batteries. That alone explains why, regardless of mandates and subsidies, batteries aren’t a solution at grid scales for days, never mind weeks, of storage.

The situation for the climate activists is bleak. But for those who align with reality, the decade long climate-alarmism fad might be finally coming to an end. At least, for now.

Climate change is the latest phrase refering to anthropamoric wealther influencing. In the initial push, where humanity was presented as the great antagonist villan, was global cooling in the ’70s. In the ’90s, it morphed into global warmng, popularized by Al Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth.

Historically, fads based in fraud, bad science, or wishful thinking can only last as long as the zeal to maintain the illusion persists. But eventually, even if it causes upset, the truth springs to deal a death blow.

The climate change case has always been dubious, and, despite mainstream media’s efforts to convince people otherwise, there is not a scientific concensus of climate change doctrine. Statistical fraud, as one article states, is rapent.

This writer argues that ESG, and other carbon conserving schemes appear to be one of many white-collar scams pushed by the likes of the globalists, who seem to prefer scamming hard-working people instead of producing something beneficial for society themselves.

Trump Slams FOX, Vows to Help CNN Become a “Gold Mine” if it Veers More Conservative

By Ryan Delarme, September 6, 2022

FOX News has a strained relationship with Trump supporters. Since the election, many MAGA republicans who feel misrepresented by the network have tuned out altogether. A recent statement by Donald Trump could suggest that those lost viewers may never return.

Former President Donald Trump criticized the network on Sunday for continually aiding the “democrat agenda”, going so far as to suggest that CNN of all places could become the next conservative media “gold mine” if the network’s politics were to shift.

As per his post on Truth Social:

Wow! Fox News is really pushing the Democrats and the Democrat agenda. Gets worse every single day. So many Dems interviewed with only softball questions, then Republican counterparts get creamed. RINO Karl Rove is unwatchable, very negative, and on all the time – Has a big record of losing! Not an easy place to be as a Republican, especially with all of the “pervert” purchased ads. If “low ratings” CNN ever went Conservative, they would be an absolute gold mine, and I would help them to do so

One of the most recent examples of FOX’s fall from favor with the MAGA crowd was an article featured on Fox News insisting the FBI raid on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was “justified,” . Many pro-MAGA outlets, including the Gateway Pundit, believe the article contributes to an establishment push to derail Donald Trump’s presumed 2024 campaign.

An interview from June between Bret Baier and Arizona Gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake also caused many America First conservatives to further criticize the network.

At CPAC last month, Lake told Steve Bannon that the ambush interview was the only time FOX reached out to have her on in over 7 months, during what many believe was the most important primary in the country.

The most interesting thing that Donald Trump mentioned in his post was the possibility that CNN, which in recent years has veered far to the left, could somehow be salvaged by leaning more conservative, an effort Trump sounds eager to help with.

Chris Licht, the new boss over at CNN, has now reportedly told anchors to cease use of the term “the big lie” when talking about 2020 election fraud – Licht pointed out that this line is the same one used by Democrats.

Claire Atkinson, the chief media correspondent for the Insider, recently warned that “there’s going to be the possibility of people leaving CNN, and the possibility that ratings go down” as a result of the network’s efforts to become more neutral.

The BLM Grassroots Claim BLM Leader’s Cohort Shalomyah Bowers Stole $10 Million from the Organization

By Ryan Delarme, September 5, 2022

Black Lives Matter leadership is coming under scrutiny once again as a confidant of the already scandalous co-founder Patrisse Cullors has been accused by the group’s grassroots membership of having stolen $10 million.

Since the death of George Floyd, the group has been able to raise millions in public donations. Earlier this year it was reported that leader Patrisse Cullors used BLM donations to pay friends and family millions of dollars. Cullors was also accused of using this money to buy multiple homes, leading many to see the group as a grift scheme, essentially taking from those that they purport to help.

According to a recent report by Associated Press, the Black Lives Matter Foundation has a total of $42 million in net assets at its disposal.

As per the Washington Free Beacon:

The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation in a 990 tax disclosure obtained by the AP reported that it “invested $32 million in stocks from the $90 million it received as donations” thanks to the 2020 race protests. It ended its last fiscal year with $42 million in net assets and has an operating budget of about $4 million.

Under Cullors’s direction, BLM paid out nearly $970,000 to a company owned by Damon Turner, who has a child with Cullors; more than $840,000 to a security firm run by Cullors’s brother; and more than $2.1 million to a consulting firm owned by close Cullors associate Shalomyah Bowers. Cullors admitted the foundation employed her mother and sister as well as her brother.

Now, Shalomyah Bowers is being accused by the members of his own organization of having stolen $10 million from grassroots organizations.

The Post Millennial reported:

The leader of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Shalomyah Bowers, was accused of stealing over $10 million from the organization in a lawsuit filed Thursday by Black Lives Matter Grassroots.

Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, the nonprofit parent organization of Black Lives Matter Grassroots, is responsible for the financial management of donations and money distribution to the operating BLM groups. The infighting between the official BLM groups stems from recent and more transparent scrutiny over corruption within the organization. The suit, filed by attorney Walter Mosley, places blame of the increased scrutiny, especially from the IRS, at the feet of Bowers and said his actions were “blazing a path of irreparable harm to BLM in less than eighteen months.”Bowers, who is one of three directors on the board of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, shot back with a joint statement that read,

“They [Black Lives Matter Grassroots] would rather take the same steps of our white oppressors and utilize the criminal legal system which is propped up by white supremacy (the same system they say they want to dismantle) to solve movement disputes.”
